As we reach the January half-way point, I always wonder how many of us out there are still on track to achieving our goals? You know the resolutions, the intentions, the promises, the gym memberships, the detoxes…..
Sadly I’ve done all of these before, setting goals, joining gyms, embarking on ridiculous detoxes…and all with similarly disappointing results….
That was until last year year, when I decided to rebel against the check lists, and the overwhelming sense of having to ‘achieve’ and simply focused on how I wanted to FEEL….
And by that I’m talking about moment to moment FEELING…365 days of the year!
MY CORE DESIRED FEELINGS…
The concept of core desires, and tuning in to how you want to FEEL springs from Danielle La Port’s work the The Desire Map. For anyone not familiar with Danielle’s work, the desire mapping process encourages you to choose 4-5 words which represent and resonate with HOW you want to FEEL during every moment. The idea is that instead of putting pressure on yourself to achieve a certain number of outcomes during the year, namely New Year’s resolutions….she instead encourages you at every opportunity to connect with how you want to feel.
The process forces a connection on a more conscious level.. a moment of pause and reflection to step back and ask ourselves
‘By doing this, is it going to make me feel the way I want to feel?’
‘Is this decision or action in alignment with where I want to be in my life?’
‘Will the outcome of this decision take me one step closer to manifesting my dreams?’
The real ‘ah ha’ moment comes when you actually take the time to stop, reflect and check-in with how you feel and whether the decision you’ve made actually aligns with what you are trying to manifest in your life…..because if it doesn’t…..why the hell are you doing it?
Over Christmas, I spent time thinking and heartstomring about what I wanted to create this year…I came up with these core desired feelings…..
ABUNDANCE, FREEDOM, VIBRANT, GROUNDED AND CLARITY…..
I’ve shared my core desires on my Vision Board. I’ve also placed them on a post-it note on my laptop, right next to my desk at work and they have become part of my mental gratitude list each night….‘Did I feel each of my CORE DESIRES today? If not why not?’ This process is so important in continuing to show up for yourself and for these feelings to unfold and manifest each and EVERYDAY.
So what’s stopping you from feeling the way you want to FEEL in 2014? Why don’t you give it a go! Instead of goals, expectations, pressure, and lists, spend some time this week thinking about how you want to FEEL!
Use a thesaurus for inspiration, find words, pictures and quotes that jump out and inspire YOU….
Take the time to connect with yourself and create your best life.
